My legacy to Res Artis just before leaving was to achieve eco-certification status for the international network via the SHIFT Culture Program led by Culture for Climate Scotland and audited by Vector 42. I became very aware of the cumulative carbon footprint of a sector embedded in local and international travel, and saw an opportunity to lead by example and make transformational change. I can imagine a greener arts residencies landscape with the potential for simple carbon calculators to aid artist travel, ‘green’ label residencies and more.
